The Carl Zeiss group is an international leader in the fields of optics and opto-electronics, with a workforce of 24,000 employees around the world. In addition to intraocular lenses, Zeiss manufactures planetariums, spectacle lenses, photographic and cinema cameras, as well as solutions for biomedical research and the semiconductor, automotive and engineering industries in general.

With a presence in 40 countries around the world, it has 40 factories, 50 sales and customer service locations and 20 research and development centres.  Founded in 1846 in Jena and with its headquarters in Oberkochen (Germany), Carl Zeiss AG is fully owned by the Carl Zeiss Foundation.

For some time now, Zeiss has been focusing on the field of intraocular lenses and after acquiring two of the sector’s most innovative companies (IOL-Ioltech in 2004 and Acri.Tec in 2007), Zeiss Meditec has built a solid base of solutions related to the field of intraocular lenses.  The intraocular lens portfolio offered by Zeiss includes:

  • LIOs MICs: : the best solution for reducing induced astigmatism in refractive intraocular surgery.
  • Premium IOLs: diffractive-refractive and toric multifocals

Additionally, Zeiss also develops preloading solutions (see filters) to enable safer intraocular surgery.
